Standardised Contract for Migrant Domestic Workers
Migrant Forum in Asia (MFA) has drawn up a Standardised Employment Contract to promote and protect the rights and welfare of migrant domestic workers.
The primary purpose of a standardised contract for migrant domestic workers is to provide a model contract by drawing upon the provisions of the ILO Convention concerning Decent Work for Domestic Workers (ILO C189, 2011); ILO Convention on Migration for Employment (revised) (ILO C97, 1949); the UN International Convention on the Protection of the Rights of Migrant Workers and Members of their Families (UN MWC, 1990); Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women (CEDAW,1979) and other UN Core Conventions. The content of the standardised contract is also informed by the experience and knowledge of migrant associations and migrants rights advocates through their participation in the MFA consultation process.
