Open Letter to the Government of Bangladesh on Call for the end of harassment against Odhikar staff

Odhikar staff, in particular its secretary Mr. Adilur Rahman Khan, has been subjected to surveillance and harassment by the government. This has recently extended to Mr. Khan’s family as indicated in the attached  statement. Odhikar works closely with our MFA members in Bangladesh and co-hosted the 2011 SAPA General Forum(GF) together with MFA Bangladesh members.

The harassment and intimidation of Odhikar staff is contrary to Bangladesh’s international commitments. It is also alarming to know that human rights defenders are persecuted and subjected to this kind of harassment.

MFA is in solidarity with Odhikar in the struggle to protect human rights. Please circulate this information and call on the government of Bangladesh to stop the surveillance and harassment of human rights defenders.
