{"id":4278,"date":"2020-12-16T03:44:45","date_gmt":"2020-12-16T03:44:45","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/mfasia.org\/?p=4278"},"modified":"2020-12-16T03:44:45","modified_gmt":"2020-12-16T03:44:45","slug":"special-session-on-the-2nd-anniversary-of-the-adoption-of-the-global-compact-for-migration-gcm","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mfasia.org\/migrantforumasia\/special-session-on-the-2nd-anniversary-of-the-adoption-of-the-global-compact-for-migration-gcm\/","title":{"rendered":"Special Session on the 2nd Anniversary of the Adoption of the Global Compact for Migration (GCM)"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>As part of\u00a0<strong>International Migrants Day: Global Celebration of Our Rights and Our Struggle for Justice,\u00a0<\/strong>a full day event on\u00a0<strong>18 December 2020 (Friday) at 6:00PM-7:00PM Manila\/11:00AM-12:00AM CET,\u00a0<\/strong>Migrant Forum in Asia (MFA), together with the Cross-Regional Center for Refugees and Migrants (CCRM),\u00a0Global Research Forum on Diaspora and Transnationalism (GRFDT), and the Civil Society Action Committee (AC), will be holding a\u00a0<strong>Special Session on the 2nd Anniversary of the Adoption of the Global Compact for Migration (GCM)<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>The special session is scheduled on\u00a0<strong>18 December 2020 (Friday)<\/strong>\u00a0<strong>at 8:00PM-10:00PM Manila time\/1:00PM-3:00PM CET.<\/strong>It\u00a0will aim to focus on some of the key issues and concerns that played a key role during the negotiations of the GCM and to assess where we are now, two years post-adoption.\u00a0<em>Interpretation will be available in three languages:\u00a0Arabic, French, and Spanish.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>We will be joined by the following panelists:<\/p>\n<p><strong>1. Jonathan Prentice,\u00a0<\/strong>Head, Secretariat of the UN Network on Migration<\/p>\n<p><strong>2. Fernando de la Mora,\u00a0<\/strong>Coordinator for Social, Economic, Human Rights and Humanitarian Affairs at the Permanent Mission of Mexico to the United Nations<\/p>\n<p><strong>3. Shahidul Haque,\u00a0<\/strong>Former Foreign Secretary of Bangladesh<\/p>\n<p><strong>4. Tendayi Bloom,\u00a0<\/strong>Lecturer in Politics and International Studies, University of Birmingham, UK<\/p>\n<p><strong>5. Shabari Nair,\u00a0<\/strong>Labour Migration Specialist for South Asia, International Labour Organization (ILO)<\/p>\n<p><strong>6.
