Winners of ILO’s Global Media Competition Entitled “Reporting Fairly on Labour Migration”

 

As we celebrate Migrants’ Campaign Month, the International Labour Organization (ILO) had a global media competition entitled “Reporting Fairly on Labour Migration”.  The ILO received a total of 258 entries from contestants in 68 countries. Ten entries from the Professional Journalist category and ten entries from the Citizen Journalist category were sent to five independent judges tasked with the responsibility of selecting the winners.

ILO managed to arrange for a meeting between Ray Mwareya, the winner n South Africa, and ILO’s Country Director based in Pretoria. Apparently, Ray only recently began working in journalism, and was very humbled to receive the award!
